چکیده

We have previously shown that the In(Lu) gene downregulates expression of an erythrocyte protein antigen identified by murine monoclonal antibody (MoAb) A3D8. In the present study we have examined In(Lu) Lu(a b -) erythrocytes for expression of additional epitopes on the erythrocyte 80 kilodalton protein (p80) bearing the A3D8 antigen. Using a total of seven additional MoAbs that recognize three epitopes on erythrocyte p80. we have shown that In(Lu) Lu(a b ) erythrocytes exhibit downregulation of expression of all three epitopes. In(Lu) erythrocytes also showed a reduction in their reactivity to rabbit antibodies produced against purified p80 from either erythrocytes or lymphocytes. Furthermore the reactivity of the MoAbs was not altered by treatment of the cells with neuraminidase but was substantially reduced by treatment of cells with trypsin or chymotrypsin. The polyclonal antip80 sera were shown to react with a fragment of 50.000

Investigation of Cytocidal Activity of Bacillus Thuringiensis Parasporal Toxin on CCRF-CEM Cell Line

Background & Objective: Parasporin is a parasporal protein of Bacillus thuringiensis and exhibits special cytocidal activity against human cancer cells. Similar to other insecticidal Bacillus thuringiensis crystal toxins, parasporin shows target specificity and damages the cellular membrane. In this study, different strains of Bacillus thuringiensis isolated from various regions of Iran and the...

Can we consider erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C-reactive protein as a severity index in pemphigus vulgaris?

Background: Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP) are 2 inflammatory indicators that increase in many pathologic and physiologic conditions. Pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is an autoimmune skin disease in which autoantibodies against desmogleins cause acantholysis. In this study we have measured ESR and CRP levels in patients with PV to evaluate the relationship between an ...

Apparent alterations of erythrocyte acetylcholinesterase and other membrane proteins in Duchenne muscular dystrophy: a further example of a generalized membrane defect associated with hereditary muscular dystrophy.

The primary cause of genetically determined muscular dystrophy remains obscure. Evidence in favour of purely myopathic (Walton, 1969), neoronal (Gallup & Dubowitz, 1973), vascular (Hathway et al., 1970) and autoimmune (Jasmin & Bokdawala, 1970) mechanisms has been put forward. Attempts to find a mutant protein have not yet produced any substantial results. The increase that occurs in certain in...

Recent Progresses in Preparation and Characterization of RO Membranes

Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purifcation technology that uses a semipermeable membrane to remove ions, molecules, and larger particles for the production of drinking water. The frst RO membrane for seawater desalination, wastewater treatment and other applications were made of cellulose acetate. But, the polyamide thin-flm composite membrane that can tolerate wide pH...

اندازه گیری پروتئینهای گلیکوزیله سرم به روش اصلاح شده تیوباربیتوریک اسید

Several classes of protein may undergo non-enzymetic addition of glucose derived product. Hemoglobin was the first protein shown to be modified. Subsequent studies have demonstrated a similar effect of glucose on lens crystalline, collagen, erythrocyte membrane proteins, albumin and other serum proteins. Measurement of these non-enzymatic glycosylated serum proteins (GSP) showed that the l...
